Legendary Irish athlete announced as official running ambassador for St James’s Hospital Foundation
Legendary Irish athlete, Catherina McKiernan this week visited St James’s Hospital, where she was announced as an official running ambassador for the St James’s Hospital Foundation, the fundraising body of St James’s Hospital.
One of Ireland’s all-time running greats, Catherina currently holds the record for the fastest marathon completed by an Irish female. She has also won the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon an incredible four times.
Catherina will be working with the fundraising team to promote the running events that raise much needed funds for our hospital. These events include the 2015 Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, the Liberties Fun Run & the 2015 SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon.
Commenting on her new role as an ambassador for St. James’s Hospital Foundation, Catherina McKiernan commented; “I am very excited to be working with St James’s Hospital. Running has played a huge role in my life and I know the health benefits it can have on the body and the mind. I hope to see lots of people Jogging for James’s in the future”.
Also commenting on the announcement was Fiachra O’Riordan, CEO of St James’s Hospital Foundation; “We are absolutely thrilled to have Catherina on board as our ambassador and extremely grateful to have her support. We know that Catherina’s passion for running & the work we do will help us raise vital funds for St James’s Hospital.”
