Despite the challenging Irish weather, 160 people took part in the 5km run/walk at Kinnity Castle, Co. Offaly on Sunday 17th April 2016. The picturesque route took participants through the stunning, albeit muddy, tracks and trails around Kinnity Castle and the foothills of the Slieve Bloom mountains.
Both Dr Colin Doherty (Consultant Neurologist) and Katie Cooke (Brain Disease Patient Ambassador) from St. James Hospital, led the charge up the slippery tracks at full pelt, with Katie pipping Colin for the win. Well done Katie!
Huge thanks to Kinnity Castle who provided participants with some much deserved refreshments, the warm soup was definitely appreciated, as was the banquet of tea and biscuits.
Well done and big thanks to all those who took part or supported this fundraiser, and to all the marshals and helpers on the day.
Special thanks to Maria Fogarty for organising the event which raised over €5,000 for the Brain Disease Campaign at St. James’s Hospital.
